Youth Camps

We are pleased to announce our After School Program Riding Instructor Jenn Bruner will be working with us on the REACH Kids programming. You will find a full range of summer activities available at REACH Huron. From Own a Horse to Cooking, check out the choices below.

Own a Horse @ REACH Camp I

Monday, July 5 – Friday, July 9, 2010

This residential camp is for students who have just completed Grade 6 or 7 and who do not own a horse, but are interested in or love horses. Campers will be assigned to one of the REACH horses for the duration of the camp and will be responsible for the care of that horse. Depending on their riding ability, they will ride either the horse they are assigned to or one of the other horses. Campers will learn about the equine industry and some of the sectors in the industry. They will stay in the dorm rooms at REACH.

Cost: $375 plus HST, which includes all meals, accommodations, activities and riding.

Ride, Shoot & Swim Day Camp

Monday, July 12 – Friday, July 16, 2010

Activities will include horseback riding, swimming (weather permitting), archery, arts & crafts, indoor and outdoor sports, and many other fun group activities. The camper: counselor ratio will be dependent on the age groups. This camp is for ages 6 and up. Cost: $230 plus HST. Includes all activities, use of a riding helmet, activities, snacks and lunches. Financial assistance may be available.

Own a Horse @ REACH Camp II

Monday, July 19 – Friday, July 23, 2010

For graduates of Own a Horse @ REACH Camp I, and for those who have just completed Grades 7 or 8, campers will learn more about the care and welfare of horses. More science based information will be presented, including nutrition, health maintenance, anatomy & conformation, hoof care, and training principles. They will stay in the dorm rooms during this camp, ride, swim and take part in other camp activities. More details and registration forms will be available here by March 1.

Cost: $$375 plus *tax, which includes all meals, accommodations, activities and riding.

Youth Day Camps

Monday, July 26 – Friday, July 30, 2010

Monday, August 23 – Friday, August 27, 2010

Open to those 6 years old and up, this day camp will provide activities including arts and crafts, swimming (weather permitting), gardening, basic cooking skills and creating healthy lunches and snacks. Camp will run from 9 am to 4 p.m. daily. More details and registration forms will be available here by March 1.

Cost: $230 plus HST for each week, which includes snacks and lunch each day.

Art in the Country Day Camp

Monday, August 9 – Friday, Aug. 13, 2010

Painting, sketching, using vegetation for dyes, fibres, and so on. Each day of this camp, learn about rural life through art. Field trips (literally) will provide material for learning about wild life and rustic arts & crafts. Photography will also be covered. Cost: $230. plus HST. Camp runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily with snacks and lunch provided. This camp is for kids ages 6 and up.

Culinary Day Camp

Monday, August 16 – Friday, August 20, 2010

This day camp will appeal to those who have an interest in the culinary arts. Each day the campers will be using the commercial kitchen at REACH to learn about the art and science of cooking gastronomical delights. Camp will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, with snacks and lunch provided. More details and registration forms will be available here by March 1.
