About

…In 1969, it was recorded that the Ilderton Fair Board would consider putting up a permanent show ring on their grounds if they were sure it would be used and maybe the London Horsemanship could use it for their three shows. In 2011, we still have all four LHC shows at the Ilderton Fairgrounds.

Visit the website for more stories and details about The London Horsemanship Club.

Equine Glamour Shots

by admin on February 24, 2011

via: www.solareyesphotography.ca

As an animal lover, Caralyn has recently explored the opportunity to take studio photos of horses and is willing to try it with other livestock.  The horses took the experience very well and rather enjoyed the special attention.  Caralyn uses a huge canvas for her background and sets up her studio lights in a safe location so the horses do not disrupt them.  Once the horses became comfortable around the equipment, the halter was removed to capture the animals in their entirely natural state.

Lazee G Ranch Camps, Windsor

by admin on July 9, 2010

Via Lazee G Ranch.

Fun, educational, great confidence builder!

Coming to camp can be so much more than just going to a barn; it’s a realization that farm work can be fun but also a lot of work! A lot of children dream of having a farm or a horse or just a cat or a dog, and what a better way to get a taste of reality when enrolled in the summer camp program. Team up with other interested children, visit with the animals & learn about how to take care of all the animals on the farm. Learn to groom horses, saddle, take care of them, feed them, ride and learn more about farm life, the animals, and about the food we eat. Every day will be filled with fun and different enjoyable events like farm games, collecting eggs, crafts, roping, archery, treasure hunts, sing-a-longs, skits, swimming, movies & hayrides! Not all camps offer archery and swimming due to age appropriate safety concerns. Over the years hundreds of children have come through the Lazee G Ranch barn door, we would love to work with your child, if you let us.

  • 2009 Can-Am Environmental Award Winning Facility
  • Small groups – 1 instructor to every 6 children.
  • Experienced and knowledgeable staff!
  • Instructors & Lifeguard CPR/First Aid certified.
  • Camps for ages 3 to 18 years.
  • Early Drop-off & Late Pick-up Service available.
  • Receipts for tax purposes provided.
  • Multi family and week discounts available.

Farmtown Canada Camp, Aylmer

by admin on July 9, 2010

via Farmtown Canada

Funny Farm Camp

Summer is a time for all kids to make memories. It’s the best time of the year full of exploration, adventure and opportunities. Our camps are inclusive serving children from all walks of life, developmental, social and behavioural abilities, income levels and family makeup together. This non-stigmatizing, integrative approach sends the message that all kids are special, able and welcome on the farm.

We believe every child deserves a chance to come to camp. However, many children and families don’t have the means or financial resources to provide the opportunity of a lifetime so their child can gain the awesome life experiences that our camp provides. We ask for all attending to pay what they can, and those supporting to dig deep and help make camp happen for every camper. Summer more than any other time of the year has the potential to be that life changing time, where memories are made that could last an eternity.

“Every kid deserves Farm Camp” is an initiative to provide all kids that want to come to the Farm an opportunity to explore animals, life skills and choice making that will change them forever.

Camp Funny Farm 2010

Jumping-Dressage at LDA!

by admin on May 21, 2010

Prix Caprilli Tests will be offered for the first time this season at the London Dressage Association shows. Prix Caprilli is simply a dressage test with jumps in the way.

Sample video found on YouTube, not from LDA

Descripton from Prix Caprilli Training Levet Test on LDA site:

“For horses with jumping experience showing Training Level Dressage – maximum height of fences 2 feet. It is understood that in the working gaits, a jumping horse is not expected to be as round on the bit as a competing Dressage horse. The horse must softly accept the bit and may show more “roundness” in the parts of the tests separate from the jumps. Trot work to be done posting. Transitions into and out of the halt may be through the walk. Test may be called. Refusals will be penalized as an error of course. Knockdowns will be penalized at the judge’s discretion. In the case of a knocked down rail being in the way, the judge will ring the bell for the rider to stop without penalty. After the jump is replaced, the bell will be rung again telling the rider to continue from where he stopped.”
